Steve Nash receives standing ovation in Lakers return

Just a week after it seemed like Steve Nash’s playing days were over, he made his return to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night at Staples Center, against the Washington Wizards.

Last week, Nash said in a documentary on Grantland that he was not going to retire despite the back and leg injuries that have cut short his season. He cited the $9.7 million remaining on his contract as a reason not to hang it up, and understandably so.

Nash came in off the bench for starting point guard Kendall Marshall. He finished with 5 points, 4 rebounds and 11 assists in the Lakers’ 117-107 loss to the Wizards.

As one of the most exciting players of his generation, it’s nice to see Nash at least attempt to keep playing rather than simply hanging it up. Hopefully, the rest of his late career will be a little luckier.
