Steve Nash played his first game in almost three months on Tuesday, and seemed to rediscover the fountain of youth, at least for one play in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 109-99 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Nash found Wesley Johnson for a halfcourt alley-oop that evoked the Nash that won two MVP awards in Phoenix.
When Nash spoke to reporters on Tuesday morning, he sported a gray beard that betrayed his advancing age. That beard was gone by game time, and some of the effects of Father Time seemed to go away with it. He scored just seven points but picked up nine assists.
Nash has dealt with back and hamstring injuries all season, playing in just six games for the Lakers and looking old and ineffective when he did play.
It’s good to have the vintage Nash back, even just for one game.
